The Prime Minister reached Peshawar despite the Election Commission's ban

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has reached Peshawar despite the Election Commission of Pakistan's ban.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in Peshawar for the launch of Pakistan Card Initiative. Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had stopped PM Imran Khan from visiting Peshawar.

In the letter, regarding the local body elections, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been instructed not to visit Peshawar. According to the Election Commission, local body elections are going to be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 19. In the first phase, local body elections are also being held in Peshawar. After the announcement, the Prime Minister's visit to the relevant place would be considered as a violation of the Code of Conduct.

The ECP further said that after the announcement of election schedule by the President, Prime Minister and Governors, they could not visit the constituencies concerned for any development scheme. Can take action under

The Election Commission of Pakistan also issued a reminder notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan. The ECP said in a notice that violations of the code of conduct could be prosecuted under sections 233 and 234 of the Election Act.
