US announces not to send any US official to Beijing Winter Olympics

Washington: The United States has announced that it will not send any US officials to the Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to the British News Agency, a statement issued by the White House said that neither President Biden nor any other US official will participate in the Winter Olympic Games to be held in February next year.

The statement said that the decision was taken in view of the continuing human rights violations by China. However, the Chinese embassy in Washington did not comment on the US decision.

The White House press secretary said that despite the diplomatic boycott, American athletes would be allowed to participate in the Games. It should be noted that the Beijing Winter Olympics are scheduled to start in February.
